Breaking News: Earthquake and Tsunami hits Japan - At exactly 2:46 this afternoon an earthquake measuring 8.9 struck northeastern Japan, followed by a series of aftershocks, including one 7.4 magnitude earthquake about 30 minutes later that immediately triggered a tsunami as high as 4 meters. The quake caused buildings shook in the capital Tokyo. The quake struck at a depth of six miles (10 kilometers), about 80 miles (125 kilometers) off the east coast, the agency said. This area is 240 miles (380 kilometers) northeast of Tokyo.
